Once you have you granite surface you want to keep it looking its best. But how do you know when it is time reseal it? And how do you go about resealing it?
We will be answering both those questions in this blog post!
Lets start by determining if you need to reseal your granite.
(some types of granite never need to be sealed and doing so will just make a mess)
Saturate a plain white paper-towel or cotton cloth in water and place on the surface for about 5 minutes. When the time is up lift the cloth and if the area under the cloth is darker than the surrounding area the water soaked into the stone and you need to seal your surface.
Clean the Surface
Spray the whole surface with a spritz cleaner. Wipe it down thouroughly and wait for the surface to be completely dry.
Seal the Surface
Now that your surface is clean and dry, evenly cover the granite with sealer. The prefered method is with a spray bottle but a clean rag or brush is also acceptable. Allow the sealer to absorb into the stone. After about 20-25 minutes, when the sealer is nearly dry, apply a bit more sealer and rub it in with a clean dry cloth rag. Wait several hours and repeat the process. (wait times may vary by brand of sealer) All done!
